One day Rachel and her family went on a camping trip to Danforth Bay. Danforth Bay is located in New Hampshire. The family decided to go there because Rachel’s father heard it was a great place to go camping. When they finally arrived there and set up everything, nothing was how they expected it to be!
There was a horrible scent of skunks that made them quite sick, but the wonderful scent of hotdogs and hamburgers cooking over a campfire helped get rid of the awful scent of skunks.
Not only did they smell the skunks, but they saw them as well, along with cute little chipmunks that kept visiting their campsite to try and steal some of their food.
That night while they were sleeping in their tent, Donna, Rachel’s mom, heard a sound outside their tent. She thought it was a cow, but Paul, Rachel’s dad, opened the window of the red and gray tent and saw that it was actually a bear, not a cow.
The next day while Rachel and her family were eating breakfast, two big, black and orange butterflies started to attack Rachel and her mom. So James, Rachel’s brother, started to spray the butterflies with bug spray. Once the butterflies were sprayed they were so sticky that they laid on the ground and couldn’t move. After about ten minutes after the butterfly attack, it started to rain all day long until about 930 pm.
That night after the rain stopped, James and Paul were roasting hot dogs over a big campfire when all of a sudden a skunk popped out of nowhere and started to chase them for their hotdogs. After about two minutes of being chased, the skunk was about to spray them when finally they decided to give up their hotdogs.
After all of those problems, the rest of the camping trip was a lot of fun except for when Rachel’s dad went canoeing the next day to get away from all the animals, he tipped his canoe and fell into the ice cold water!
That night Rachel and James decided to roast big fluffy marshmallows to make warm, delicious smores for themselves and the rest of the family. It was their last day there and they wanted to make it special, so they decided to go hiking down a long trail and through many tail trees. When they did they heard many birds chirping, they felt the nice cool breeze, and they were able to taste the nice fresh air, and there was a big long lake that was rushing through the trees. There was one problem, they were getting a lot of Mosquito bites, which hurt a lot and were extremely itchy!
After their long, peaceful hike, they went back to their site and decided to make their last Hamburgers, hot dogs, and of course smores. They wanted to enjoy the rest of their time in the great outdoors having fun together.
The last night of their trip sleeping in their tent was a long one for the whole family, because they were anxiously waiting to be able to take everything down, say a final farewell to the great outdoors, and go home.
The next day finally came and it happened to be the nicest day of the entire time that they were on their trip. Rachel and her family wanted to stay a little bit longer but they couldn’t, they had to go home.
They slowly and sadly took everything down, packed everything in the bags and boxes, packed the car, got their last souvenirs, and got ready for their long ride back home to New Jersey.
While they were leaving, Rachel was still able to taste the smores, burgers, and hotdogs they made the night before they had to leave. She was also able to still smell the fresh air, food cooking over a campfire, and of course the skunks!
Rachel and her family knew it was time to go home, even though they did not want to leave. They knew that they had a great time and would be back next year, but they hoped the skunks wont.
